With clicker training you don’t have to wait to reward your dog until he does an entire behavior. He (or she) doesn’t have to get it right the first time. You can use the clicker to tell him that he is on the right track. You do this by rewarding him for solving part of the game.

So if your dog isn’t lying down to get a click, try asking him for a sit. You do this by giving him a click and a treat for any movement toward sitting. Don't expect to get the entire skill in the first session and be sure to keep each session five minutes or less.

With this "clicker shaping" you don't need to touch him or give him any commands. Just let the clicker do the talking.

If you have a dial-up connection, you may need to wait for 45 seconds for the animations to run at the correct speed.
